Naked Eyes is a British synth/pop/rock band formed in 1980 as Neon. Pete Byrne and Rob Fisher split off to form Naked Eyes, while the other two members, Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal, formed their own band called Tears For Fears. Best known in the US for their hits “Promises, Promises,” “When The Lights Go Out” and their cover of “Always Something There to Remind Me,” Naked Eyes broke up in the mid 80s. Rob Fisher went on to write and perform hits with Climie Fisher and Rick Astley, while Pete Byrne did session work and writing for other artists. Fisher’s death in 1999 following surgery prompted Byrne to dust off some songs they’d written for an unreleased album. A solo album followed, with Byrne touring again under the name Naked Eyes starting in 2005. A new Naked Eyes album has been completed and is scheduled for release later in 2011.
